Adoptive Families Magazine: Adoptive Families Magazine publishes the '2001 Adoption Guide', an up-to-date source of national listings for adoption attorneys, programs, and support groups. The Guide also includes a review of adoption law, decision-making tips, and life stories. The guide sells for $9.95, and can be ordered by visiting the web site, or calling 1.800.372.3300.

Adoption TODAY and Fostering Families Magazines: Edited by Cynthia Peck. 2001. This quarterly publication aims to serve everyone committed to permanency for children, including foster and adoptive parents, and child welfare professionals. Each issue explores one topic in depth with a point/counterpoint format to fully present the topic from various viewpoints. Reader input and participation is encouraged. 888.924.6736.

ChildTrauma Academy: The ChildTrauma Academy, founded by Bruce D. Perry, M.D., Ph.D., is a unique collaborative of individuals and organizations working to improve the lives of high-risk children through direct service, research and education. The site contains a host of articles on child development, maltreatment, and the effects of trauma. It also features a good links section on these subjects.

The site also features several online courses, including the inaugural course "Surviving Childhood: An Introduction to the Impact of Trauma", written by Dr. Bruce Perry. There are also interactive message boards to facilitate discussions with other participants and course instructors.

PACT: Comprehensive reference guide to books on adoption, foster care, and race and cultural issues. The guide includes more than 1,000 titles covering the following topics: adoption policy and practice; adoptive family development; tools for helping with challenging adoptions; adoption books for kids; books for adoption workers.

Perspectives Press: This is a good web site for adoption books and articles that can be downloaded. The editor of Perspectives Press, Pat Johnston, is an adoptive parent.
