Interventionist/ Reading Teacher Support Network - Denver Area
Goal: to network, improve practice, share idea's and expertise; address challenges and successes in instruction/intervention for students struggling with reading, writing and spelling grades K - 12.
This is an great opportunity to learn, to grow and to share our skills. To establish an independent learning community dedicated to best practice intervention for students who struggle with reading, writing, spelling and including students who are dyslexic.
Who: teachers, tutors, reading interventionists and classroom teachers who work with at risk readers - from mild to severe.
What: Opportunity to collaborate, share tools, techniques and enhance what we do to help struggling readers
When: the 2nd Monday of each month beginning January 10 th: 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. (so that folks that tutor can join us when they finish with their students.
Where: Thomas Jefferson High School, 3950 South Holly St. (near Hampden and I 25)
Format: The idea is that this group will function much like a book group - we will collaborate, each of us bringing our best tools, techniques and challenges. Each meeting will have a ' host' to function as a facilitator with the participants bringing strategies to create shared information and experience. We can also invite professionals from the community to come if we'd like. We have access to some of the best trainers in the country and I know they'll love to share with us if we want to invite them!
